Sterling silver is 92.5% silver with a 7.5% additive, usually copper.
925 is the silver that includes 92.5% silver. Thats why people call 925.
Silver becomes black because of hydrogen sulfide (sulfur), a substance that occurs in the air.
Place wrapped silver in resealable plastic bags. Seal and store.
- Line bottom of non-aluminum dish with a sheet of aluminum foil.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda into a quart of hot water.
- Soak for a half hour — time may vary depending on degree of tarnish.
- Buff with clean, dry cloth.
